SDSN Czechia

Charles University initiated the establishment of the national network SDSN Czech Republic, which is part of the international initiative Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). This network brings together scientists and academics from the Czech Republic who focus on supporting sustainable development. The host institution is the Charles University Environment Centre, and the network was founded in 2021.

The primary mission of SDSN is to mobilize the expertise of its members and engage them in joint efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The network also connects universities, research institutions, businesses, government, and non-governmental organizations to design and implement practical solutions that drive transformative changes. SDSN focuses on effectively linking science, policy, and practice, contributing to progress in achieving the SDGs at all levels – from local to global.

An essential part is the transformation of scientific knowledge into specific steps, the promotion of free education, and the development of innovations. SDSN also engages in the independent monitoring and evaluation of progress, identifying persistent gaps and priorities, and using these analyses to adapt long-term sustainable development strategies. It supports the exchange of experiences, the dissemination of best practices, and the application of local solutions within broader regional and global contexts.

In this way, SDSN Czech Republic contributes to integrating scientific approaches, practical steps, and international collaboration, thereby significantly supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals not only in the Czech Republic but also globally.
