The SOVZ Platform is an initiative aimed at promoting responsible purchasing in the public sector. It helps contracting authorities set up public tenders so that, in addition to price and basic quality, they also take broader impacts into account; for example environmental sustainability, ethical and decent working conditions in supply chains, and a positive contribution to society and the local economy.
Charles University began applying responsible public procurement systematically at the turn of 2019/2020. In June 2020, it adopted the Responsible Public Procurement Strategy and the subsequent Rector’s Directive No. 30/2020.
Within RPP, Charles University focuses on:
• The structure of the supply chain and conditions within it, with an emphasis on ensuring decent working conditions.
• Implementing socially responsible public procurement, with a focus on supporting internship opportunities for Charles University students with its suppliers and exploring research opportunities.
• Prioritising environmentally friendly solutions.
• Supporting the implementation and further development of responsible public procurement in the field of university education in the Czech Republic.
