Charles University has long supported strategies to deepen sustainable development activities. It programmatically aligns itself with the 2015-2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are part of the 2030 Agenda adopted at the UN Sustainable Development Summit in New York City in 2015. Through the "17 SDGs" it understands the concept of sustainable development in its complexity and has long promoted activities leading to the deepening of its environmental, social and economic aspects.
In accordance with the CU's Strategic Plan for the period 2021-2025, Charles University adopted strategic documents for sustainable development in May 2023, namely the Sustainable Development Strategy of Charles University: Towards Sustainability 2030 (hereafter referred to as the Strategy) and the Action Plan for the Implementation of the CU Sustainable Development Strategy: 'Towards Sustainability 2030' in the period 2023-2024 (hereafter referred to as the AP). Both materials have undergone a university-wide commenting process and have been duly reviewed by the relevant university bodies.
Within the framework of the "Green Skills at the CU" project (reg. no. NPO_UK_MSMT-2114/2024-4), the modification of both documents was undertaken in late 2024. This consisted mainly in the extension of the Strategy in the key area of Management and Organisation, which, given the complexity of the CU environment, proves to be essential for the effective and successful implementation of the strategic materials, and in the updating of the AP through the addition of projects whose implementation is supported by the aforementioned grant funds.
