The effective implementation of changes requires collaboration across the entire university. Since the autumn of 2023, internal communication at the faculty and department levels has been ensured by appointed Coordinators of Sustainable Development. To incorporate current academic knowledge and practical reflection, working groups will be established for the Administration and Operations area. These groups will address specific topics (i.e., 1. Energy and Construction; 2. Water, Greenery, and Ecosystem Services; 3. Waste and Food services; 4. Mobility) and will be involved in implementing the Action Plan and updating the Strategy. The groups will include both research and academic staff from the university, as well as relevant staff from other departments or entities within the university. The creation of an Advisory Board, composed of employee and student representatives, is also being considered. However, the direction of the university can be influenced by anyone interested in sustainable development (especially students and employees of the university), for example through the Idea Repository.
An integral part is the promotion of sustainable development topics through promotional and educational activities at the university, such as news on the website, the Sustainable Karlovka podcast, posts on social media, or in the university magazine Forum. Since 2023, there has also been an annual grant competition for students who can submit their own project proposals in the area of sustainable development at the university. Selected projects will receive financial support for project implementation. Students can also take advantage of the opportunity to join one of the registered active associations whose activities touch on the topic of sustainable development.
