The European Sustainable Development Week (ESDW) is a pan-European initiative that aims to promote sustainability in all its aspects, as formulated by the UN in the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Every year, hundreds of events are held in dozens of European countries, focusing on topics such as climate protection, sustainable cities, health and quality of life, social justice and responsible consumption. There are countless opportunities to get involved.
Charles University regularly participates in ESDW through its faculties and other parts, which prepare a varied program for students, employees and the general public. These include, for example, lectures, workshops, exhibitions, community meetings, film screenings or open days, with the aim of inspiring sustainable actions in everyday life.
This tradition continues also this year 2025, and we would like to invite you! The annual date for ESDW is set for the week of 20–26 September; however, due to the start of the academic year, we will be using an extended period.
ESDW 2025 will take place at Charles University, taking into account the thematic overlap with the European Mobility Week, from September 16 to October 8, 2025. As in previous years, faculties and other parts of the university will also participate in the program, thanks to which the program will include a wide variety of interesting activities. This year, the event will be conducted in the spirit of: One university, a thousand sustainable paths, with the main theme being Sustainable mobility.
