As a part of European Mobility Week, Charles University took up the university-wide Bike to Work September Challenge, which was a successful step towards promoting sustainable mobility. The university community participated with great enthusiasm, collectively cycling, walking, or skateboarding more than 850 kilometres!
During the challenge, all participants also had the opportunity to have their bicycles serviced for free at Campus Hybernská. This service was carried out in cooperation between the university and the Circular Workshop.
Motivations for taking part were manifold, e.g. imporving your physical condition, a daily dose of endorphins, reducing carbon dioxide, and anonymized route data used to improve urban planning. And the chance to win a prize!
The raffle draw took place during a guest presentation event at European Sustainable Development Week (ESDW), where lucky winners were awarded with university prizes. Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you to everyone who took part in the challenge!
This event demonstrated that self-powered transportation is important to our university and has great potential. Thus, we invite you to channel your energy into the May Challenge 2025, which will focus on teamwork. Teams from various faculties will have the chance to compete against each other. Will the FTVS team remain the rightful favourite, or will another faculty surprise us?
